Jean
Branchet was born in Lons-le-Saunier in France, and grew up in Toulouse,
were he constructed his first works of art under the tutelage of refugee
artists from Spain.
In 1953 he arrived in Paris where he discovered contemporary art, particularly at the Salon Des Réalités Nouvelles.
In the world of business he became an economist and a financier, but in his private world he continued creating works in the constructivist style. His business took him to other parts of the world, where he visited museums and studied the art he found there.
He participated for the first time at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in 1992 and joined the MADI movement in 1993. The Galerie Claude Dorval in Paris has represented him since 1995, and he and his wife opened their own gallery in Nantes, where they reside.
