Heather Marcus (b. 1939, Kansas City, MO). She was trained as a painter and sculptor, graduating with honors from the University of Kansas (1961). She worked as a commercial artist in design, art direction, packaging and advertising until 1979 when she began making abstract, painted aluminum constructions, many of which were large-scale site-specific commissions for hospitals, corporate centers, and other public spaces. Her work has been included in exhibitions in New York, Florida, Missouri, California, Kansas, and throughout Texas. Ms. Marcus was selected to show at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. in the 1988 exhibition: 12 Texas Women. In 1998 Ms. Marcus moved to New York and began painting portraits professionally.
