Sculptural, kinetic, transparent, or flat — Geometric Artists Circle the Globe features seven artists who manipulate space in their work using distinct methods. Precision is the unifying factor and color the common language. The jewel tones of Hernan Jara’s intimate gouache paintings contrast with the acidic pastels of Linzee Inkster’s moveable works. Inkster and Ines Silva will lead the discussion at the Arcadia Salon on January 12.
William Barbosa was born in 1955 in Ocana, Colombia and now resides in San Francisco de Yare, near Caracas. He is a self taught artist who has exhibited solo and with the MADI groups in South America and Europe.
Joao Galvao was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1941 and studied at the School of Fine Arts University of Brazil between 1964 and 1966. He furthered his studies in Paris at the Sorbonne.
Linzee Inkster was born 1959 in Wellington, New Zealand where she received a degree in Pure Mathematics. She exhibits in New Zealand and has work in collections located in Australia and Asia.
Hernan Jara was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1936 and received a degree in Architecture and Urban Design in France where he currently resides. Jara is one of the founding members of Art Construit International, a group of geometric artists that emphasize the unity of the arts.
Josef Linschinger was born in 1945 in Austria where he studied and taught.at the College of Design and Art University. He is considered one of the leading representatives of Concrete Art in Austria.
Ines Silva was born in 1970 in Caracas, Venezuela where she received a degree in architecture. She assisted with the exhibition “El Espacio” at Museo de Belles Artes de Caracas and participated in the First Biennial of Art organized by the School of Architecture at Caracas University.
Muneki Suzuki was born in Nagoya Japan in 1955, studied there, and later became a professor at the University of Arts and Music in Japan. He has exhibited in Japan, France, Italy, and Venezuela. He now resides in Versailles.
