Museum director Dorothy Masterson will introduce both of the artists from our current exhibit, Mobile Tagging Art by Pedro Morales and Geometric Infinity by Miguel Prypchan.

EXHIBIT | Mobile Tagging Art by Pedro Morales and Geometric Infinity by Miguel Prypchan

Exhibit featuring the Mobile tagging art of Pedro Morales, and sculptures created by Miguel Prypchan. This exhibit opens with a reception on April 27, 2018, and runs through July 15th, 2018.

About the Artists

For Pedro Morales art , from Venezuela, the gallery of the Museum will be completely transformed by this unique display featuring Mobile Tagging Art. This expression, coined by the artist, uses scanning, decoding, and reading of geometric shapes with the camera of a smart phone to reveal content, without sacrificing the aesthetic engagement. Morales says about his work, “I force digital technology to do things it was not originally designed to.”

Sculptor Miguel Prypchan, also from Venezuela, is known for aluminum forms featuring a specific, triangular identity, highlighted by the application of color. Prypchan begins his process by planning the cuts and bends that he will make into aluminum sheets. The polygonal shapes appear through folds, ties and cuts applied to the metal. The color is achieved through an effect known as iridescence. The light and chromatic changes depend on the type of pigments used and how they are applied. Each sheet is worked in layers of color.

The opening reception, featuring both artists, and their art, will start at 6:00 PM, Friday April 27th.
